The Record Makes a Movie
/The Yale Record Movie: Citizen Kane 2!
The Record was fortunate enough to obtain the intellectual property rights to the seminal American film Citizen Kane. Funded by a Yale Creative and Performing Arts grant and the generous support of the Libertarian Party of the Connecticut River Valley, the Record successfully created a moving sequel, Citizen Kane 2. Producer and 2023 Heeler Julia Arancio helmed the creative efforts alongside Executive Producers Clio Rose and Sam Leone. Brennan Columbia-Walsh (‘26) and Chesed Chap (‘25) led a talent-stacked cast as Citizen Kane, the grandson of Charles Foster Kane, and his wife Citizenne Kane, respectively. The film reminds us all of the power of journalism, the even stronger power of corruption, and the timeless message that taxation is, indeed, theft.
As a launch party for our Lights, Camera, Action! Issue, a red carpet premiere of CK2 was held at Davies Auditorium. The audience was packed with Record members, Yale guests, and lovers of fine cinema, all dressed for the occasion. Keep an eye out for the Oscar nominations this year; we’re giving A24 a run for their money.
